Terms of Service
Last updated: 20 July 2026
These terms are designed for users in the United Kingdom and EU. They are not a substitute for legal advice. Consumer rights under UK law are not excluded where they cannot be.
1. Who we are
Convertica is operated by GasDigital Ltd (United Kingdom) (“we”, “us”). Contact: [email protected].
2. Agreement
By accessing or using Convertica (the “Service”) you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country if higher) and able to form a binding contract. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind it.
4. The service
Convertica provides online file conversion, compression, and related tools (for example PDF merge/split, video convert/compress, archives, ebooks where available). Features, formats, and limits may change. Free and paid limits (conversion minutes and max file size) are published on the Pricing page and enforced server-side. First paid Basic or Pro charges may qualify for our 7-day money-back policy as described on that page (fair use applies).
We are not a backup or long-term storage provider. Download results before automatic deletion.
5. Accounts & API keys
You are responsible for keeping login credentials and API keys confidential. You must provide accurate email information. We may suspend accounts for security or abuse.
6. Acceptable use
- Do not upload malware, illegal content, or content you have no right to process.
- Do not attempt to bypass quotas, rate limits, or payment systems.
- Do not reverse-engineer, scrape abusively, or overload the Service.
- Do not use the Service to infringe IP rights or privacy of others.
- Do not process special category data or children’s data in violation of law.
We may suspend or terminate access for violations without prior notice in serious cases.
7. Conversion minutes & quotas
Minutes measure actual processing time on our servers, rounded up to whole minutes (minimum one minute per successful job unless we publish otherwise). Failed jobs do not consume minutes. Free minutes reset daily; paid plan minutes reset on the billing cycle described on Pricing / at checkout. Guest IP-based free quotas apply when not logged in.
8. File retention
Uploads and results are automatically deleted within 24 hours. We are not liable for loss if you fail to download in time.
9. Subscriptions, billing & cancellation
Paid plans are billed via PayPal subscriptions (monthly or yearly where offered). Prices are listed in GBP on Pricing. By starting a paid plan you authorise recurring charges until cancelled.
You can cancel in the app (Billing) or in your PayPal account. Cancellation stops future renewals; you generally retain paid benefits until the end of the paid period already charged, unless required otherwise by law or PayPal rules.
UK consumers: You may have a 14-day cooling-off right for distance contracts. If you ask us to start the Service immediately and we fully perform conversion services during that period, you may lose or reduce the right to cancel for those services. Nothing here excludes statutory rights that cannot be excluded.
10. Intellectual property
You retain rights in files you upload. You grant us a limited licence to process them solely to provide the Service. The Convertica software, branding, and site content remain ours or our licensors’.
11. Third-party services
Payments (PayPal), email delivery, cloud share links you provide (Drive/Dropbox), and optional monitoring tools are subject to those providers’ terms. We are not responsible for third-party outages outside our reasonable control.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We aim for high reliability but do not guarantee that every file will convert perfectly, or uninterrupted availability. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. This does not affect UK consumer statutory rights that cannot be excluded.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, data, or business, arising from use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for claims arising out of the Service in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of (a) fees you paid us for the Service in that period or (b) £50. Nothing excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or other liability that cannot be limited under English law.
14. Indemnity
You will indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your breach of these Terms, or your unlawful use of the Service, to the extent permitted by law.
15. Changes
We may update these Terms. Continued use after the “Last updated” date constitutes acceptance of material changes where permitted. For material changes affecting paid consumers we will take reasonable steps to notify you (e.g. email or site notice).
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that UK/EU consumers may also bring proceedings in their country of residence where mandatory law requires.
